Prof. Ian Hacking
Prof. Ian Hacking, geboren 1936 in Vancouver (British Columbia), ist Wissenschaftstheoretiker und Philosoph. Er studierte Mathematik und Physik an der University of British Columbia und Moral Science an in Cambridge - beides schloss er mit einem Bachelor ab. Er promovierte 1962 und war seit 1982 Professor für Philosophie am Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology, University of Toronto. Von 2001 bis 2006 war er Honorarprofessor am Chaire de philosophie et histoire des concepts scientifiques am Collège de France.
Ian Hacking bekam unzählige Auszeichnungen, unter anderem den Ludwig Holberg International Memorial Preis und das Österreichische Ehrenzeichen für Wissenschaft und Kunst. Er schrieb mehrere Bücher. Sein aktuelles "Scientific Reason" erschein 2009.
